The “Married at First Sight” Season 9 couples are halfway through. It’s time to celebrate one-month anniversaries in episode 9 of the Lifetime reality show, but it takes a dark turn for one couple.

Beth and Jamie

These two are doing pretty well at first. Jamie drinks Beth’s moon water and plans a romantic outing for them at their wedding venue for their one month anniversary. He reads his wedding vows to her. Beth gives Jamie a book of coupons for their relationship while Jamie gives her a necklace.

Things take a turn when they get their wedding photos. Beth is thrilled about how good she looked on the wedding day, and Jamie is offended. He thinks they should be talking about them as a couple and feels like she is being vain.

Apparently, things got worse after they went home. The cameras on their wall capture them yelling. Beth says her husband is being mean and she doesn’t want to talk to him right now. He calls her a “materialistic [expletive],” and she says she wants space.

“Then I’m leaving,” Jamie says.

“Leave then, I don’t care,” Beth says.

“And if I leave, the marriage is over,” Jamie says.

“Okay, bye Jamie,” she responds.

Beth wakes up the next morning and she’s crying. She doesn’t feel good about herself and feels like she isn’t good enough for anyone. She feels like she’s the problem and that no one wants to be with her. Still, she doesn’t feel like she said anything wrong about the album.

“I just can’t take this anymore,” she sobs.

Are they getting divorced? Will they find a way to stay together? Fans will have to wait until next week to find out.

Iris and Keith

Things were lighter for the other couples this week. Keith gets together with a friend for some advice. He says they don’t have the same schedule, so he and Iris have limited time together. His friend is shocked that he is married to a virgin. Keith says he’d feel terrible if they get divorced and he had taken Iris’ virginity.

Iris is nervous that Keith is suddenly concerned about her virginity, but her mom reminds her that his concern might be sweet more so than standoffish.

Keith takes Iris on a surprise outing to go horseback riding. They ride out to a romantic little meal. After they eat, they find their wedding album and exchange gifts. Keith gives Iris a heart necklace. Iris gives him vinyl albums, and Keith is touched that she got something so thoughtful.

Deonna and Greg

Pastor Cal Roberson, one of the “Married at First Sight” experts, checks in on these two and is happy to see Deonna being more affectionate. She still has fears, though. She worries that Greg won’t like all her flaws, and acknowledging that fear is the first step to overcoming it.

Deonna takes Greg bowling to show him how competitive she can get. They make some bets and share some kisses, and Greg is impressed that she’s getting comfortable with PDA.

When they go out for their anniversary dinner, Deonna wants to try octopus and Greg pushes himself to do it for her. Deonna says she is getting used to Greg’s sexual nature and starting to accept his compliments and physical affection. She feels like he’s even more than what she wanted in a husband.

They have a piece of their wedding cake that they can eat, but Deonna wants to put it back in the freezer and eat it on their one year anniversary. Greg agrees, and it seems like these two are in it to win it.

Amber and Matt

Amber cooks a romantic dinner for Matt while he brings her flowers and dessert. She wears a pretty dress for the meal, and they agree that they’re in a good place and feel happy.

Later, Matt writes Amber a song for their anniversary, and she loves it.
