Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has married his longtime girlfriend, Ashley Brown, his representatives confirmed on Tuesday.

Peterson and Brown each wore wedding rings at the Starkey Hearing Foundation’s gala in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday, TMZ Sports reports. When approached on the red carpet, Brown identified herself as “Ashley Peterson.”

The notoriously private Vikings running back never announced his wedding. However, Peterson’s representative confirmed to TMZ that he and Brown were recently married. In addition, a Twitter account purportedly belonging to Brown now identifies her as “Ashley Peterson.”

Reports vary on when Peterson and his wife first began dating, but sources told TMZ Sports that they first met when he attended the University of Oklahoma from 2004 to 2006. They reportedly have at least one child together.

In the past, Brown has rarely been seen with Peterson in public. However, she did accompany the former NFL MVP to the Vikings’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in London last year, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Like her new husband, Brown is no stranger to the spotlight. The former model once posed for Playboy magazine’s 2006 feature “Girls of the Big 12.” Oklahoma, Peterson’s alma mater, happens to play in the NCAA’s Big 12 conference.
