Although Meghan Markle and Prince Harry explained that their plan to step back from the senior royals duties would give them more privacy and allow them to become financially independent, the former “Suits” star’s father, Thomas Markle, does not support their decision.

Before Canada closed its border to the US, Meghan and Harry reportedly moved from their temporary home in Vancouver to a permanent residence in Los Angeles.

On Sunday, The Sun reported that the 75-year-old is disappointed with the couple’s decision to move to California rather than return to the UK. “Everything she did to me, she has now done to the Royal Family,” Thomas said.

“I think it is ridiculous. You cannot make Harry look more like a wimp than she has done now,” he added.

However, Thomas revealed he thinks Meghan and Prince Harry made a mistake by abandoning their royal titles. “Yes, they will come to California and become A-listers – they will be welcomed in all the wealthiest people’s houses,” he said.

“But you cannot buy the honor that you have. There are people in the world who would pay millions of dollars to become a duchess and part of the Royal Family.”

Although Meghan has already secured several work opportunities since leaving the royal family, Thomas believes that Prince Harry won’t be happy with his life outside of the royal family.

“Meghan is doing voiceover work for Disney – but I think her and Harry’s support is fading fast. I’m losing a lot of respect for them - they look like money-grubbers. I feel they should return to England and fulfill the duties they got married for,” Thomas said.

Since Prince Harry and Meghan’s move to Los Angeles, insiders have claimed that senior royals aren’t happy that the couple left a Commonwealth country amid the coronavirus pandemic. “We are stunned and horrified. The country is going through a traumatic event at the moment,” a source previously told The Sun.

“They have a beautiful cottage in Windsor where they could have based themselves. It’s just a stone’s throw away from where the Queen and Prince Philip are in self-isolation.”

For now, Meghan and Prince Harry are settling into their lives in California. Although they were expected to visit Queen Elizabeth at her Balmoral estate over the summer, it is unclear whether they still plan to travel to Scotland.
