Meghan Markle may have just ended her maternity leave, but she's wasting no time getting back to business--even if that means breaking royal protocol.

The 38-year old ended her maternity leave on Thursday with the launch of her capsule collection but that's not how she broke protocol. She apparently broke a royal rule by channeling Princess Diana and embracing people.

According to the Daily Mail, Grant Harrold, former butler to Prince Charles says Meghan is "showing that the British royal family is a modern 21st-century family" and is "carrying on Diana's tradition" by hugging children and adults.

Kate Middleton, on the other hand, follows "royal etiquette to the letter," explained body language expert Judi James.

"As a future Queen Kate has always followed royal etiquette to the letter and this would include using the handshake as the norm," she said. "Kate and William have always used very mirrored body language, and that has meant they both stick to the more formal traits when it comes to meetings and greetings."

This wouldn't be the first time the Duchess of Sussex channeled her husband's late mother. In 2017, Meghan's photo was featured in a magazine fancied by Princess Diana. The photo was an apparently successful attempt to "woo" the royal family and solidify her place within the monarchy.
