Meghan Markle did a bold move at Prince Louis’ christening not to stand out, but to complement Kate Middleton and other members of her and Prince William’s immediate family.

The “Suits” alum opted to wear an olive-green Ralph Lauren dress to Prince Louis’ baptism, while everyone else wore cream and pastel colors. Following the release of Prince Louis’s official christening photos, some royal fans criticized Markle for not adhering to the color scheme. However, fashion experts defended Prince Harry’s wife by saying that what she did was actually commendable.

Anna Mewes, a stylist, told Express, “Meghan’s choice for Prince Louis’ christening was elegant and modern. I loved the simple cut of her Ralph Lauren ensemble and the coordinating accessories added to the understated feel. The choice of color was perfect for the occasion to complement Kate Middleton’s lighter neutral tones. This beautiful olive green suits Meghan’s coloring perfectly.”

Middleton, on the other hand, wore an Alexander McQueen V-neck dress to Prince Louis’ christening at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Chapel. She accentuated her attire with her Jane Taylor hat. The Duchess of Cambridge holds Prince Louis the whole time during the ceremony and pictorial.

Meanwhile, some royal fans still didn’t like the fact that Markle’s choice of color stood out the most during Prince Louis’ baptism.

One commenter wrote, “That green dress does not blend in with all the cream and blue.”

Another royal fan wrote, “Do they color coordinate by family? All the cream and pastel colors… and then Meghan in olive green to show a new family? I used to think they did it by colors that go with the room the picture will be taken in but now I think it’s by family or maybe not coordinated at all?”

“Meghan obviously didn’t get the memo re the color scheme! She looks great but stands out wearing the green,” another person wrote.

But Mewes said that the former actress actually wore the color to make sure she wouldn’t upstage Middleton. If she wore cream or pastel, Markle would’ve looked just like the Duchess of Cambridge in the photographs.
