Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton started as good friends before their rumored falling-out.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex are often pitted against each other. In Markle's recent interview with Oprah Winfrey for a CBS special, she revealed that it was not true that she made Middleton cry in the run-up to her wedding because "the reverse happened."

Page Six examined the relationship of the two duchesses, including their ups and downs. The outlet claimed that their falling-out began in 2017 when Middleton's sister, Pippa Middleton, did not invite the former "Suits" star to her wedding.

However, several outlets reported that Markle was present at the reception. Some reports also claimed the rift between the two started at Princess Charlotte's dress fitting for Prince Harry and Markle's wedding when Markle allegedly made Middleton cry. Meanwhile, other outlets claimed that the two royals' rift stemmed from their husbands' quarrel.

Prince William allegedly doubted that Markle would be a good fit for his younger brother. Due to the alleged tension between the two princes, their wives were reportedly affected that was why there were reports about them having a beef. However, some sources claimed that there was actually no feud between the two duchesses.

Page Six mentioned different instances concerning Markle and Middleton's rumored feud, including the reports that the Duchess of Sussex made the Duchess of Cambridge cry days before her royal wedding to Prince Harry. The outlet also mentioned the claim that Middleton was complaining that she was exhausted after Prince Harry and Markle decided to step down from their royal duties.

The rumors about Middleton and Markle intensified after Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding, with some tabloids claiming they had a complex relationship. However, they put on a united front when they attended the Christmas Day church service in 2018, months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding. Body language expert Judi James said the future queen consort exerted more effort in their friendly public reunion.

"Kate even raised a hand to chat, performing the kind of dimpled and slightly suppressed smile that would suggest the two women were sharing a joke," James said acknowledging the Duchess of Cambridge's efforts during the said sighting.

Markle denied the rumor that she made Middleton cry in her interview with Winfrey that aired on CBS last week. The Duchess of Sussex said Middleton apologized to her and even sent her flowers and a card. In the same interview, Markle made it clear that they have no issues and even complimented Middleton by calling her a "good person."
