Meghan Markle will not return for the final season of “Suits,” and it’s not because she declined an offer from series creator Aaron Korsh.

During a recent interview during the NBCUniversal portion of the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Los Angeles, Korsh confirmed that he decided not to ask the Duchess of Sussex to return to the series and reprise her role as Rachel Zane.

Korsh understands that Markle has an important role as a royal, and he said that he has no intention to ask the alum to leave her job with the royal family and return to the series. However, this does not mean that Korsh wouldn’t like for Markle to be back.

Last week, it was announced that “Suits” was renewed for its ninth and final season. According to Deadline, the legal drama will return with 10 new episodes, which will preview in the summer. Days after the announcement, Korsh talked about the future of the show and hinted at inviting some of the old cast members back.

However, the series creator made it clear that he also did not invite Patrick J. Adams to return for the final season despite rumors claiming he did.

“When Patrick left, we talked about the notion of him coming back. It had to be right story-wise, and he had to be in a place where he wants to do it, depending on what’s going on with him,” he said.

Meanwhile, even though “Suits” will be ending soon, fans of the show shouldn’t fret. It has been confirmed that a spinoff series, titled “Pearson,” has already picked up. The new show will revolve around Gina Torres’ character, Jessica Pearson.

In related news, Korsh also talked about Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding on May 19 and said that it was a once in a lifetime magical experience.

“The thing I will say about that was we all went as a family… It was unbelievable, and I think it changed our lives in certain ways forever,” he said.
