Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle Sr., once again threw shade at the royal family during a recent interview.

The former lighting director said that the British clan is like Scientologists because of their cult-like secrecy. While speaking with The Sun, Thomas also said that the royal family is like the Stepford family.

“If they hear anybody say anything they just lock the doors. They need to speak up! They are cult-like – like Scientology – because they are secretive. They close the door, pull the shades down and put their fingers in their ears so they don’t have to hear. Maybe they have a secret handshake too! You cannot ask a question of them – as they won’t answer,” he said.

Last week, Thomas said that he no longer wants to be associated with the royal family, but it seems that there is really no stopping him from giving interviews to the press. Despite all of the criticisms he has received from Markle’s supporters, there’s at least one person outside of his family that is taking his side.

Ken Wharfe, who served as Princess Diana’s protection officer from 1988 to 1993, told Yahoo’s Royal Box presenter Kate Thorton that it is the palace that should be blamed for what happened between Markle and her dad.

“I think that we should dismiss Meghan’s father as someone who’s made mistakes here. His behaviors and his actions are as a result of poor advice, or no advice. For that reason, the palace adviser should take some level of criticism for not softening the blow for him,” he said (via Express).

Wharfe also said that it is expected the press would offer to give Thomas cash in exchange for his interviews.

“The press wants the next story. They’re going to bend his arm, there will be offers of money. Unfortunately, the media will now stay with it. It’s a story that will run until there’s an answer,” he said.
