Meghan Markle’s ex-husband, Trevor Engelson, may push through with the comedy series that he has been developing about the Duchess of Sussex.

Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, shared the news during a recent interview. She said that Engelson may be gearing up to break his silence about his and Markle’s marriage. The ex-couple was together from 2011 to 2013.

“He said he was devastated and that he felt like a piece of gum at the bottom of his shoe. He slammed Meg,” Samantha said.

Last year, it was reported that Engelson, a Hollywood producer, was planning on developing a comedy that was loosely based on Markle. The plot will center on an American man and his ex who just got married into the British royal family.

Months after it was first reported, multiple publications claimed that Engelson will no longer push through with the project. But Samantha said that this may not be entirely the case.

“I think because Meg and Harry were inviting half of Hollywood to their wedding, he didn’t want to stigmatize himself or his project knowing the political pull that it would have in the industry. So I think at one point he thought, ‘Maybe I just better lay low,’” she said.

“I don’t even know if it’s going forward. We heard that execs were toying with it. Shared custody with the Royals – that was them. I don’t think Trevor would back down on that or think it’s offensive to Meg. It’s not directly about her and she doesn’t have a copyright on all things royal. It would only offend her if Trevor shares personal details that were put into character or scripted,” she added.

Samantha previously took Engelson’s side after she revealed that her sister just left her ex-husband without much explanation. Markle’s ex-best friend, Ninaki Priddy, seconded Samantha’s statement by saying that there was Meghan before and after her fame.
