“Suits” actress Meghan Markle attended Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception, but she wasn’t allowed to go to the church service Saturday at St. Mark's Church in Englefield, Berkshire. Markle’s sister, Samantha, was furious her sister was banned from the nuptials.

Markle was permitted to attend the wedding reception because she’s dating Prince Harry, the brother-in-law of Pippa’s sister, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. Pippa enacted a “no ring, no bring” rule, which means partners who are not married or engaged to the invited guest cannot attend. She made an exception for Markle since she’s dating Harry, and extended a personal invite to the reception. Still, that wasn’t enough for the “Suits” star’s sister.

“For the royal family to exclude her from the wedding is in very poor taste,” she told Radar Online in an exclusive report Wednesday. “She should have been there. She’s classy, and her dress was designed as a one-off.” Samantha added: “To ignore Meghan at the ceremony and for photographs is pure snobbery.”

The actress’s sister claimed Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, would have been furious with the treatment of her youngest son’s girlfriend. “Diana would be appalled to see how Harry’s true love was treated,” Samantha claimed, noting she and Markle weren’t always close. “I haven’t always agreed with some of the things my sister has done but she’s a victim here.”

Markle did not issue a statement about the wedding, or how she was banned from the church. She reportedly wore a maroon dress that was backless.

The Hollywood star faced scrutiny by some people after she and Harry announced their relationship. Some of the criticism focused on her biracial and Jewish background.

“His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” part of the statement read. “It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”

The Markle controversy aside, Pippa appeared to have the time of her life when she married financer James Matthews. “This is the wedding Pippa and James dreamed of,” an insider told People Magazine Wednesday. “They said all along they wanted it to be a private family wedding at home in the beautiful countryside with their closest friends and family.”

Kate served as the maid of honor for the special day and read a prayer at the church service. “Grace of God, spirit of life and love, we ask your blessings for Pippa and James and their life together,” the 35-year-old said.

Guests told People Magazine Pippa’s special day was beautiful. “It was a wonderful, memorable evening,” said guest Gemma Billington. “It was just a beautiful wedding in the countryside with some very famous guests!” an unnamed invitee added.
