  • Melania Trump confirmed that her son Barron also tested positive for coronavirus, but he has already recovered
  • The First Lady experienced minimal symptoms when she was still battling COVID-19
  • Melania thanked everyone who reached out to them and said she would resume her duties soon

Melania Trump got candid about her personal experience with coronavirus two weeks after President Donald Trump announced that they had tested positive for COVID-19. She also revealed that their son Barron contracted the disease.

Melania penned an essay on the White House webiste to share the details of her COVID-19 battle. She admitted that after hearing the news, she feared for her son Barron’s safety.

"Naturally my mind went immediately to our son," the First Lady wrote.

"To our great relief he tested negative, but again, as so many parents have thought over the past several months, I couldn’t help but think 'what about tomorrow or the next day?' My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive," she continued.

Fortunately, Barron was healthy and strong. He didn't exhibit any symptoms. Melania said she was glad they went through it at the same time because they were able to spend time together and look after each other when they were still quarantining. The FLOTUS added that Barron has since tested negative.

Unlike her husband, Melania experienced minimal symptoms and it hit her all at once. She likened it to a roller coaster of symptoms just days after she tested positive.

"I experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time," Melania added.

"I chose to go a more natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food. We had wonderful caretakers around us and we will be forever grateful for the medical care and professional discretion we received from Dr. [Sean] Conley and his team.”

Melania said the experience made her more grateful to the first responders and the FLOTUS thanked the medical staff and the residence staff who looked after them when they were still battling the virus. Recovering from the illness also gave her a lot of time to reflect on her family, friendships, work, and staying true to herself.

Melania encouraged everyone to live a healthy life and happily announced that she has since tested negative and will resume her duties soon.

"Thank you to everyone who reached out, and offered well wishes and prayers for our family. You remain in ours as well,” she concluded.

Many including Kanye West prayed for Trump and Melania's fast recovery after they tested positive for COVID-19. Last week, the POTUS returned home after spending a couple of days at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
