It looks like Michael Phelps has passed on his fascination with marine life to his son, Boomer.

On Thursday, Phelps, 32, and his wife, Nicole Johnson, 32, took their little one, Boomer, 1, on a trip to the OdySea Aquarium, Entertainment Tonight reported. The boy was appeared to be fascinated with the sea creatures, much like his father. Phelps was able to capture the moment his son came face-to-face with a stingray and shared it on Instagram.

In the photo, Boomer points to the stingray while looking at the camera as if saying something. “Mom do you see this?!? I think he wants me to come swim with them!!” Phelps wrote in the caption.

In another photo which Johnson shared earlier, Boomer was so engrossed with the stingray and appeared to be talking to it. “I think @boomerrphelps love for sea life might be as great as our is @m_phelps00,” Phelps’ wife wrote in the caption. “lil man ran from tank to tank to see what was next laughing and yelling! I told him stingrays were one of my favorites and he happened to find one he could stand face to face with thanks for the invite @orrisclan_4!!”

Their son Boomer is not the only member of the Phelps family who has developed an interest in the undersea life. Johnson admitted that Phelps’ love for the marine life is contagious, and she has also come to love sharks.

On Sunday, Phelps returned to Discovery for “Shark School with Michael Phelps,” in which he helps Doc Gruber and Tristan Guttridge of the Bimini Shark Lab dispel the misconceptions about these creatures, The Baltimore Sun reported. Johnson was on set during filming and witnessed her husband free diving with the sharks.

“I cant wait to watch #sharkschool tonight!! While @m_phelps00 was filming I was able to pick @tristanguttridge brain about the amazing sharks in Bimini,” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “At one point they even allowed me to sit on the bottom watching MP free dive with reef sharks needless to say I’m in love with sharks and I can’t wait to dive with Hammers #bucketlist #sharkweek @discoverychannel.”
