Mikel Arteta has revealed his key plan for his newly-found future Arsenal superstar.

Despite a one-sided, 3-0 defeat against Manchester City, Arteta still lauded his young Gunners squad. And in the eyes of Arteta, the only player who has proven his worth during the said loss was Eddie Nketiah.

The English striker came out as a surprise for Arsenal as he notably led the forward line against Pep Guardiola's side. Nketiah’s efforts did not go unnoticed as Arteta dropped big revelations about his future at the club. According to the Gunners boss, he wants Nketiah to be consistent in what he does best inside the pitch. Arteta also admitted that he has “a lot of faith” on his newly-found star.

“I want him to keep doing what he's doing. The way he played last night against those players, in those difficult conditions, for me is extraordinary at his age,” Arteta told Daily Mail.

“He has an immense personality to play, confidence, he's powerful and is developing in every area I think. I have a lot of faith in him,” he added.

After spending the first half of the season on-loan at Leeds, Nketiah struggled for chances but eventually managed to hold the ball up well. Overall, Arteta was impressed with the 21-year-old’s progress. In fact, the Arsenal manager has already formulated the “trick” to the development of Nketiah and the rest of the youngsters in the squad.

“The trick here is to get them with the right environment around them - not to put too much pressure on them. We have a really young squad, a very inexperienced squad, and when you put that in certain parts of the pitch very close together, you can see that there are some deficits and the decision-making is not always the right thing to do,” Arteta revealed.

Due to the drastic financial impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Arsenal is expected to be on a tight budget this summer. This has urged Arteta to lean on his youngsters and be careful about making their next moves, especially with Nketiah.

As early as now, Arteta can already see Nketiah becoming Arsenal’s future superstar who could take them “to the next level.”

“We had to make an important decision not to let him go on loan again after the spell he had at Leeds. I watched him train and I was very convinced he was the right player for us to move us to the next level, that he can contribute in a big way to the way we want to play,” Arteta said.
