Newly-engaged Miley Cyrus has a preference when it comes to guys, and it might have something to do with her fiancé.

The former Hannah Montana actress, who is engaged to Aussie hunk Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), told People that Australian guys are way hotter than Americans.

There's no competition, she told the magazine at the Australians in Film awards. (Hemsworth got the Breakthrough Award.)

Cyrus may be biased towards the Aussies, but there's no question she is marrying into a genetically privileged bloodline: Her future brother-in-law is actor Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Snow White and the Huntsman).

She also praised her man's work ethic and compared it to her father's, country singer and former Hannah Montana costar Billy Ray Cyrus.

My dad has always been a really hard worker, so I like it when men who work hard, she told People. I think it's important and I always work really hard, so it's good to have someone who is as passionate about what they do, and wants to be great at what they do.

Cyrus met Hemsworth when they worked on the 2010 film The Last Song. The film was based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. Hemsworth made headlines earlier this year for his portrayal of the character Gale Hawthorne in the film adaptation of The Hunger Games.

Cyrus and Hemsworth, who are 19 and 22, respectively, raised eyebrows earlier this month when they announced their engagement -- some believing they were both too young to make such a serious, lifelong commitment. Their families are said to be thrilled.

She's pretty independent already, a source told People. They're just so happy she's found someone who makes her so happy.

Her father tweeted a note in which he seemed to offer his daughter his blessing: All I ever hoped for as a Daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams. To find happiness...peace of mind...and someday know...true love.

The engagement news was soon followed by breakup news: Cyrus' brother, musician Trace Cyrus, had broken up with another Disney cutie, Brenda Song (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody).

Here's hoping it goes better for Cyrus and her (hunky) Aussie man!
