Miley Cyrus' maternal grandmother, Loretta Finley, has died at the age of 85.

Cyrus took to Twitter to pay a heartfelt tribute to her beloved grandmother.

"Even though you are gone…. NOTHING has or ever will change. You will FOREVER be my inspiration and fashion icon. Even more than that the ultimate model of being a true LIGHT in a dark world. You are sunshine," Cyrus wrote.

"I will keep your spirit here by continuing to do good for others and treating them the way we all desire to be treated. With an infinite amount of the same gentle kindness you displayed daily. We will ache everyday you are not with us…." the pop star continued.

In an Instagram story, Cyrus revealed the reason for her absence from the social media platform for a few days.

"To my fans: I know it feels like I disappeared the last few days….but someone that means more to me than words can say did the same. I am completely heart broken [sic]. My Mammie is gone but never forgotten. She has always been a legend and will continue to live on thru love, compassion and kindness. When I grow up… I hope to be just even a sliver of the incredible woman my Mammie was…and is. She could never be erased," Cyrus wrote in the story along with the photo of her grandmother.

A few years back, Cyrus revealed she had gotten а photo of her grаndmother’s fаce tattooed on her foreаrm. She shared the photo on Twitter and captioned it, "Because I am her favorite & she is mine."

Last week, Cyrus appeared on "Call Her Daddy" podcast and spoke about how she copes with heartbreak.

"I’m very logical, very organized and very center, so I love lists. Every day I have a list of, ‘What do I want? How am I going to achieve it? What’s the next step? So, with heartbreak, I tried not to get lost in the emotion," she said.
