The FBI and police in Oregon and Montana continue to search for a 2-year-old boy who remains missing after his parents both died Wednesday in a murder-suicide.

The boy's father, Daniel Salcido, shot and killed the boy's mother, Hannah Janiak, and then killed himself following a police pursuit in Kalispell, Montana, according to the FBI.

Their 2-year-old son, Aiden Salcido, was not with the couple. He was last seen with his parents on June 4 at a Walmart in Medford, Oregon.

The unmarried couple had been convicted of burglary and went missing on June 11 after Janiak didn't show up to begin her prison sentence at Jackson County Jail in Medford. Daniel Salcido was also expected to serve prison time.

On July 25, Montana police stopped the couple's vehicle, a green 1996 GMC Jimmy which had Oregon license plates. The couple, who police say provided false identities, fled the scene but the officers were able to spike the tires of the car. The authorities eventually found them dead in the car.

Janiak's family, who said that she suffers from mental health issues, described her as a good mother to her son.

The couple was apparently homeless and frequently camped out in Medford. They had camping gear in their car when they were found dead.

Aiden Salcido is described as Hispanic, 2-foot-6, 45 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He was born Aug. 23, 2016. Those who may have information on his whereabouts have been asked to call (541) 774-2250.

"Investigators are greatly concerned about Aiden's welfare and are asking for the public's help in locating him safely and expeditiously," police said.

“We’re doing a lot of the old-fashioned way,” said Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino, according to local reports. “We’re getting out to the community, seeing who has seen the vehicle and using a lot of aspects of where that car has been.”
