  • The Los Angeles Angels continue to revamp the line by adding Raisel Iglesias
  • The Angels are trying to reach the postseason since 2014
  • Iglesias is set to become a free agent after the coming MLB season

The Los Angeles Angels are determined to reach the MLB postseason for the first time since 2014.

To achieve that goal, the team has bolstered its lineup with Raisel Iglesias being the latest player taken in.

The Angels and the Cincinnati Reds agreed to swap right-handed relievers on Monday. Los Angeles agreed to send Noe Ramirez and another player that has yet to be named.

Aside from the 31-year-old Cuban, Cincinnati also sent cash considerations as part of the deal, MLB.com reported.

Iglesias' arrival in Los Angeles was orchestrated by new Angels general manager Perry Minasian. His acquisition comes not long after Jose Iglesias signed with the franchise.

Minasian is busy assembling a formidable cast for the coming MLB season with the intent of making it to the playoffs. He has more plans ahead with improvements to the pitching staff on top of the priority list.

On their part, the Reds are trying to cut down on the team salary budget. There could be more players on the move with the name of Sonny Gray being floated.

But his transfer raises questions on key spots for the team. They need to make adjustments, one of which is who will take over the ninth inning for the Reds next season.

Amir Garrett and Lucas Sims are favorites to land the position. However, it cannot be discounted that Cincinnati could add a veteran before spring.

Iglesias is set to make $9.125 million next season before hitting free agency. He has accumulated a 3.17 ERA (141 ERA+) and a 3.92 strikeout-to-walk ratio while recording 72 saves.

The Cuban also relies on three pitches: a mid-90s fastball, a slider, and a changeup, CBS Sports reported.

For Ramirez, he has three years left in his present contract. He holds a 4.13 ERA (107 ERA+) and a 3.19 strikeout-to-walk ratio the past seasons.

Among his marquee pitches include an upper-80s fastball, a changeup, and a swing-and-miss curveball.
