  • Anthony Pettis hopes 2022 will be different after falling short of his PFL title quest
  • Pettis is already preparing for the 2022 PFL season
  • PFL is gearing up for another big season with multiple fight cards starting this spring

The 2022 Professional Fighters League (PFL) season will still have its dose of "Showtime" after Anthony Pettis confirmed his return for the league’s upcoming offering.

The 34-year old Pettis took to social media to share that he is indeed continuing his quest for a PFL world championship.

“Back in camp,” Pettis’ tweet wrote, which was accompanied by a video of his highlights inside the PFL’s SmartCage.

A former WEC and UFC lightweight champion, Pettis was one of PFL’s biggest acquisitions in 2020 and made his highly-anticipated debut in the league’s 2021 season.

Unfortunately for Pettis, his maiden PFL season was nothing short of forgettable as he suffered back-to-back losses to Clay Collard and eventual 2021 PFL lightweight champion Raush Manfio.

As a result, Pettis missed out on qualifying for the postseason

Prior to his run in PFL, Pettis was one of the most popular stars in the UFC and reigned as the promotion’s 155-pound champion from 2013 to 2015.

Before that, he was the final lightweight champion of the now-defunct WEC.

Pettis has notable wins over Benson Henderson, Donald Cerrone, Gilbert Melendez, Stephen Thompson and reigning UFC lightweight titleholder Charles Oliveira.

The 2022 PFL Season is expected to begin sometime in late spring.
