  • Julianna Pena is savoring UFC 269 her triumph against Amanda Nunes
  • UFC boss Dana White is open to a Pena vs. Nunes rematch
  • Pena is also ready to give Nunes a rematch

Julianna Pena was hardly given any attention when she faced Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 269.

“The Venezuelan Vixen” was the clear underdog, but the 32-year-old pulled off one of the biggest upsets that no one saw coming.

Pena shocked the mixed martial arts world when she forced “The Lioness” into submission in the second round of the UFC 269 co-main event held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, December 11.

In the aftermath of that UFC 269 win, Pena credited her conquest of Nunes to her trait to adapt wherever the fight goes.

“Everybody thinks I am just only versed on the ground or that I’m just a ground person, but in mixed martial arts, you have to be versed everywhere: on the feet, in the clinch, and I’m confident on the ground,” Pena said to MMA Junkie.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Pena knows that there are questions when it comes to the legitimacy of her win.

A rematch has been suggested, but nothing remains official.

But for Pena, a rematch with the Brazilian fighter is something she would be open to doing after she recuperates from her damaged eye.

“We can do it next; I’m free next month, two months from now–whenever they want to do it, I’m ready,” Pena said. “If she wants to do a rematch, we can do a rematch,” Pena stated.

UFC top brass Dana White backs the potential second date between the two warriors.
