KEY POINTS

  • The Moto G8 had finally been announced, although there is no definite date of release
  • The G8 family had been released in a sort of staggered manner
  • It is also widely believed that the phone will be released internationally

The Moto G8 series has been released in a strange manner. Compared to the G7 series, it has a sort of staggered order, with the G8 Plus and the G8 Play released in October 2019. Then, G8 Power and G Stylus followed in February 2020.

Now, Tech Radar is reporting that another model is being welcomed in the Moto G8 series: the flagship Moto G8.

Cameras are a highly sought-after feature today, and the Moto G8 boasts three rear cameras: a 16MP main, a 2MP macro lens and an 8MP ultra-wide snapper. At the front, an 8MP camera is ready to take selfies. Despite the number of cameras available on the phone, the Moto G8 remains the lowest camera specs in the G8 family, similar to that of G8 Play.

The screen features a 6.4-inch HD+ LCD display with the selfie-camera contained within a punch-hole. It is all powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor, which had become a standard in mid-range smartphones. It also boasts of 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM expandable up to 512GB using a memory card.

It has a polycarbonate body in Blue and Pink color trim options. It's a lightweight and has a glossy finish, which could become slippery especially when wet.

The Motorola G8 is being groomed to compete against the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Based on reviews, it does have value and people looking for stock Android models will love the options it offers. It also has a crisp display and good stereo speakers, perfect for today, when mobile movie streaming is very popular.

While it is scheduled for launch, there is no word when will the G8 arrive in store shelves or how much it’s going to cost. The G8 moniker isn’t also heavily advertised for US-only releases. Instead, they are referred to as the G-line “Moto G.” It is believed that the Moto G8 will have a more focused international launch as compared to having a US-first or an exclusive release in the region.
