  • Motorola has announced two new budget-friendly handsets
  • One of these is a wallet-friendly model meant to compete with the Galaxy Note
  • The new device offers midrange specs but will be sold for a low price

Along with the release of the highly anticipated Motorola Razr reboot came the announcement of two other handsets, one of which appears to be a budget-friendly Galaxy Note competitor.

Motorola recently announced the arrival of two new wallet-friendly handsets that are designed to appeal to more consumers thanks to their specs and features. CNet noted that the two are very similar in many regards, but one of them is designed to go against Samsung's famed Galaxy Note series of handsets.

The Moto G Stylus, as it is named, is a midrange handset that offers decent specs, a stylus (as evidenced by its name), and other Motorola-specific touches for a very friendly priace. Here's a quick look at its specs and features:

First, the device has a two-toned stylus that is stowed inside a slot located at the bottom right corner of the phone. This stylus, which is easily accessed using fingernail, allows users to maximize the device's capabilities. Motorola has designed the stylus to work with certain apps such as “Moto Note,” a note-taking app that launches whenever the stylus is pulled out from its slot.

Second, the device has a 6.4-inch 19:9 full HD display with a punch hole at the top left side for a 16MP selfie camera. The design might look familiar to most; that's because it is similar to the Samsung's 2019 flagships.

Third, the handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC. The Verge noted that this chipset is powerful enough to support the triple-camera setup at the back of the phone.

Fourth, the aforementioned triple-camera setup is comprised of a 48MP main shooter capable of taking quad-pixel 12MP stills, a 2MP Macro Vision camera that allows users to zoom in on subjects that are but 2 centimeters away from the sensors, and the 117-degree ultrawide “Action Cam” that allows users to capture horizontally-oriented videos even when the handset is held vertically.

Fifth, the Moto G Stylus comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable via use of microSD cards. It runs on Android 10, and comes with a few interesting things Motorola thought of, like a gaming mode called “Moto Gametime.”

Those who are interested to get the Moto G Stylus will be glad to know that Motorola is selling it for $300 unlocked via a variety of retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, B&H and Walmart. The handset will arrive later this Spring.
