Buddy’s deepest darkest secret has finally been exposed in this week’s episode of “My Big Fat Fabulous Life.” However, the problem is just starting to kick in and it makes Whitney Way Thore uncomfortable, knowing that her best friend has been struggling with a drug problem for some time now.

In episode 5 of the TLC reality series, Whitney and Buddy’s ex Heather took matters into their own hands by going to Buddy’s parents’ house to find clues on Buddy’s whereabouts. Buddy has already been missing for over a week, and Whitney’s already very worried and freaking out at the thought that her friend could be in big trouble.

Whitney and Heather did not find anything that could lead them to Buddy when they searched his room. But they were very surprised to learn that there were empty boxes in there, suggesting that Buddy could have planned to intentionally leave without saying a word. Later in the episode, Whitney met up with one of Buddy’s friends, Zach, who revealed that Buddy has been using drugs.

The revelation proved to be very difficult for Whitney, who admitted that she’s extremely anxious about the whole situation. “My mind is racing right now with all the possibilities of where Buddy could actually be … I’m imagining the worst, like was he arrested? Or in trouble? Or gotten involved with the wrong kind of people?”

Whitney went on to admit that she does not know what to do, considering that she’s never dealt with someone who has drug problems. “I don’t know enough about drugs. I don’t understand any of this; I’ve never known anything about this kind of thing. And I feel helpless because I don’t know what to do and I don’t know what to think.”

Prior to the airing of this week’s episode, Whitney already dished to Newsweek that she already saw some changes with Buddy even before he went missing. “There were a lot of things Buddy was doing and saying that were uncharacteristic for months and months … Buddy literally turned into a different person … His appearance changed, his personality changed and he became a stranger,” she said.

Based on the synopsis for “My Big Fat Fabulous Life” Season 5, episode 6, Buddy will finally reconnect with Whitney. The 33-year-old television personality will receive a letter from her friend, and this could reveal where Buddy is staying. It could also lead to Buddy’s return to Greensboro. Meanwhile, the synopsis also mentions that Ashley is finally having her baby. Whitney will, of course, stay by her friend’s side in the process, and she’ll even be there to help Ashley get through induced labor.

“My Big Fat Fabulous Life” Season 5 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
