Jill Wagner and Kristoffer Polaha return for another installment of their Hallmark Movies & Mysteries franchise, “Mystery 101,” on Sunday with “Mystery 101: Words Can Kill.”

Directed by Andy Mikita and written by John Christian Plummer, this September 2019 sequel finds the leads taking on a case while at a crime-writing event.

“Amy’s (Wagner) department is hosting the Murder We Wrote Festival of Crime Writing at Elmstead College, featuring Amy’s father, acclaimed mystery novelist Graham Winslow (Robin Thomas),” according to the synopsis, “but when Graham learns his literary nemesis Rick Fitch (Milo Shandel) is coming, he tries to back out — until his charming (and pretty, and English, and single) new editor, Celia Bunton (Nathalie Boltt), convinces him otherwise.

“The night before the Festival, Amy’s office is broken into, but she and Travis (Polaha) are stumped by the fact that nothing is taken. Other mysteries swirl around Betsy Crane (Marci T. House), Graham’s suspicious ex-publisher; Phil Jenk (Eric Keenleyside), a corrupt cop from Graham’s past; and Hannah Steinhousen (Rhonda Rees), a super-fan from Germany whose fixation on Graham might be dangerous.”

Travis ends up making a surprising arrest after one of the guests is murdered and the evidence leads the detective to the supposed culprit, but Amy sets out to prove he has the wrong person in custody.

The cast also includes Preston Vanderslice (Bud), Sarah Dugdale (Claire), Amanda Wong (Holly) and Lossen Chambers (Tabitha).
