The Nasdaq rose more than 1 percent on Monday, with Apple leading gains in the index, as data on the manufacturing sector and earnings from Exxon Mobil improved sentiment.

Apple rose 1 percent to $193.98.

On Friday, stocks finished lower for the third week in a row.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 113.44 points, or 1.13 percent, at 10,180.77. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 13.58 points, or 1.26 percent, at 1,087.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 21.78 points, or 1.01 percent, at 2,169.13.
