National Tourism Day is marked annually on May 7, and falls during the National Travel and Tourism Week.

National Travel and Tourism Week was first celebrated in May 1983 after President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation for the same. The week-long observance falls on the first full week of May. It is observed to create awareness about the importance of tourism in the country's economy.

Tourism, which was greatly impacted due to the COVID-19 outbreak across the global, is picking up pace with seevral countries opening borders to vaccinated travelers.
