KEY POINTS

  • Blazers, Grizzlies meet on Wednesday
  • Both teams jockey for playoff position
  • Grizzlies favored to win at home

Two teams justling for a playoff spot in the Western Conference collide Wednesday night as the Portland Trail Blazers head over to Memphis to face the Grizzlies inside the FedEx Forum at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The showdown will be televised on NBCS Northwest/Blazers Pass and FS Southeast and will be available for streaming on NBA League Pass and Sofascore.

The Grizzlies, who currently hold the last seat in the playoff picture, will enter the joust just three games above the Trail Blazers, who will be playing the second night of a back-to-back on the heels of a lopsided loss against Pelicans in New Orleans. Fatigue might play a huge role in this game. The current trend of wins likewise favors the Grizzlies. That said, this game is definitely for Memphis to lose.

Portland Trail Blazers

Damian Lillard finally cooled off after a month-long outburst as he finished with just 20 points in the 137-177 loss against the Pelicans. The setback was Portland's third straight defeat on the road to put their record at 10-19 when playing away from Oregon. Defense appeared to have abandoned them after allowing New Orleans to shoot 53.3 percent from the field, including a third quarter collapse that enabled the Pels to explode for 41 points.

Memphis Grizzlies

Rookie sensation Ja Morant recorded his first career triple-double in Sunday's 106-99 win against the Washington Wizards as the Grizzlies continue to put the league on notice with a 14-4 winning blast to bring them right back to over .500 (27-26) ahead of their last game before the All-Star break. While the latest victory was huge, the Grizzlies were far from satisfied with how they performed, especially with the way they shot the three-ball (5-32) and their freebies from fifteen (15-25).

Odds and Trends

Based on the updated NBA Betting Lines, Memphis is more likely to come through with the win in this game, edging out the Blazers with a shorter price on the match winner markets while taking a -4.5 spread.
