The New Orleans Pelicans took quite a hit when they were forced to send off Anthony Davis. However, they did not end up empty-handed. They got several promising stars in Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart from the Los Angeles Lakers, a fine trio that could blend in well with top rookie Zion Williamson.

Injuries have kept Ingram and Ball questionable. But if the latest update from ESPN is any indication, it looks like they are on course of possibly entering the 2019-20 season healthy. Both were full participants in the team's voluntary offseason workouts and neither has been restricted by injuries that have hounded them the past years with the Lakers.

Ball has been out since January following an ankle injury. He suffered it against the Houston Rockets and has since been sidelined. He missed the last 35 games of last season.

On the part of Ingram, his basketball future almost took a gloomy turn when he suffered from deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. He missed the final five weeks of last season with the Lakers. However, the 22-year-old hinted at the Pelicans introductory press conference that he was pretty close to a return.

Of the two, Ingram is the player who may need to be cautious in returning to active duty. As mentioned in a previous post, his illness is far from a normal one. While most compare it to the one suffered by Chris Bosh, who was forced to retire from pro ball. Sham Charania of The Athletic cleared the air and explained on The Sedano Show that the second overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft's case is different from that of Bosh.

There is no telling how well the Pelicans can fare for the 2019-20 NBA wars. They are bunched in a stacked Western Conference where the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets are the heavy favorites.

But with a core composed of Ball, Ingram and Williamson, pundits feel that this is a team has a bright future. This is assuming that all of them stay in New Orleans and are not moved looking forward.
