  • Teammate and former scoring champion Carmelo Anthony has high praise for the All-Star guard

Damian Lillard has been on a tear lately. He has led the Portland Trail Blazers to success as his team has won the past five out of six games. From those outings, Damian Lillard has put up incredible numbers averaging close to 49 points per game. In that stretch, he has also been distributing the ball more with 10 assists per game.

In his current hot streak, Damian Lillard has managed to put up a career-high in scoring marking 61 points against the Golden State Warriors. His lowest scoring output was when he tallied 36 points against the Houston Rockets. But it’s important to note that the 36 points came with a triple-double as he also tallied 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

His efforts have put the Portland Trail Blazers within reach of the eighth seed of the Western Conference. They are currently sitting at 9th place with a 23-27 win-loss record, trailing the Memphis Grizzlies who are at 24-25.

Former scoring champion and fellow Trail Blazer Carmelo Anthony had some high praises for the All-Star guard. As reported by ESPN, Carmelo Anthony shared that he’s happy to be part of the offensive performance his teammate has been putting up. "I don't think we've ever seen anything like this," Carmelo Anthony said.

This is high praise for Damian Lillard as Carmelo Anthony is known to be one of the biggest scorers in NBA history. He is a 10-time All-Star and holds the NBA scoring title for the 2013 season. He recently joined the Portland Trail Blazers and has put up a consistent 15.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

In addition to this, Damian Lillard’s impressive display has garnered even more respect from his fans. In their recent game against the Utah Jazz, Lillard erupted with a 51-point outing to win at 124-107.

The Moda Center ensued with MVP chants for Lillard in the 2:39 mark of the final quarter. It was evident that teammates Carmelo Anthony and CJ McCollum were hyping the crowd for their star point guard. The NBA will have to put up some defensive adjustments to stop the high-scoring Damian Lillard for now.
