The Los Angeles Lakers have managed to dodge the injury bug so far. The latest casualty is Avery Bradley, a prime piece of the team’s NBA title drive. The 28-year-old guard left in the fourth quarter against the San Antonio Spurs after getting kicked in the knee.

The good news is that Bradley’s injury is not deemed serious. He is listed as day-to-day and is expected to return soon, ESPN reported. This is a big sigh of relief considering the Lakers are already undermanned at the guard position. Still out is Rajon Rondo, another veteran who factors into Los Angeles’ bid for redemption this season.

Aside from Bradley and Rondo, some players up front are also dealing with injuries. Anthony Davis is playing even with discomfort in his shoulder while Cousins is out with an ACL injury. Davis has found a way to play through the pain so far. Boogie is a big question mark to date. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is not closing the door on a possible return. Regardless, they have gotten a big boost with late acquisition Dwight Howard. Much of this was covered in a previous post.

With several teams dealing with injuries to key players, the Lakers have so far managed to catch a break. Kyle Kuzma is back after getting injured in the offseason while practicing with Team USA. At any rate, Los Angeles should be fine moving forward.

One player who has a chance to step up is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Facing criticism early on this NBA season, he redeemed himself a bit in their last game. Looking ahead, the 26-year-old could fill in the void temporary left by Bradley.

In related news, it appears the Lakers will be unveiling a new set of uniforms. Danny Green revealed on ESPN’s Now or Never that he likes the black uniforms although they have not worn them yet.

"We haven't worn 'em yet, I like the black uniforms," said Green. "But I think the statement purple ones are pretty solid, too."

The black set of uniforms could be the “City Edition” jersey. Last NBA season, the Lakers released the uniforms on Nov. 9. It will be interesting if the design will be different. In the past, the black jerseys had gold lettering and accents. This is likely to remain the same.

The Lakers are visiting the Chicago Bulls as of this writing. Next up will be the Miami Heat on Nov. 8. They host the Jimmy Butler-led squad at home with tip-off starting at 10:30 p.m. EST.
