  • Iguodala feels Curry would best not return this NBA season
  • Curry deserves break after five NBA finals appearances
  • Curry and Iguodala could end up as teammates next season

Andre Iguodala seems rejuvenated after taking a long lay-off from NBA basketball. Admitting that this has helped him both mentally and physically, the 35-year-old swingman believes that former teammate Stephen Curry should do the same.

Appearing on ESPN's First Take, Iguodala was asked on whether Curry should return this NBA season or not. As far as he is concerned, the two-time NBA MVP should seriously take a break and relax. He backed that up by saying that the Golden State Warriors' long run could help Curry recover mentally. IT would also be a good way for him to return next season, fully healed and with a better cast.

"I think it's good for him mentally to be able to step away, be able to get a nice breather. He's gonna come back on a wrath next year," said Iguodala who remains in waiting on where he will play next.

Iguodala does have a point. Going through five NBA finals and winning three of them can take its toll on anyone. Seeing how the Warriors are practically out of it, returning from a broken hand injury hardly makes sense. Further, there is that risk that the 31-year-old could incur another injury if not aggravate the ones he has right now.

As far as the 2015 NBA Finals MVP is concerned, he too is in waiting. But unlike Curry, he has no injuries that would prevent him from playing this 2019-20 season. The Memphis Grizzlies remain firm on the belief that a trade can happen. Unfortunately, time is running out with less than two weeks to go before the NBA trade deadline.

As mentioned in a previous post, Iguodala could be a valued addition to either the Los Angeles Clippers or the Los Angeles Lakers. The 6-foot-6 guard has no preference on where he would play next. Whatever happens, he is likely to join a bonafide contender and stay there until the end of this season.

By season's end, it will be interesting what comes next for the 9th overall pick of the 2004 NBA Draft. The word out is that he could return to Golden State where he will likely finish his NBA career. If that happens, it would be ironic. If Curry does sit out the rest of the current season, both could end up being teammates once more in the 2020-21 NBA season.
