The Washington Wizards made their share of moves with NBA free agency underway, though perhaps not as high profile as other teams. The team did lose Tomas Satoransky and needed some players to fill up that void. John Wall is still rehabilitating his Achilles' tendon so Bradley Beal needed help. One of those could be Isaiah Thomas, perhaps one of the overlooked guards available in the market.

Thomas reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Wizards worth $2.3 million. He is likely to become the team's starting point guard for the 2019-20 NBA season alongside Beal, the Washington Post reported. That is unless Ish Smith proves better as the Wizards try to bounce back after a forgettable 2018-19 NBA season where they finished with a 32-50 mark in the NBA Eastern Conference.

Thomas is a two-time NBA All-Star and will try once again to bounce back after dealing with a hip injury. He has played for three different teams in the last two seasons and simply failed to recall the old form that endeared him to basketball fans. This mostly happened when he was still with the Boston Celtics, ironically the same team he led back in 2016-17. After that, everything simply changed for I.T. who eventually got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Kyrie Irving trade. After the Cavs, he also had stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.

He gets a new lease on life with the Wizards, hoping to prove everyone that he can still play at a high level in the NBA. At 5-foot-9 and perhaps one of the most underrated pro cagers, there is no question that Thomas would have been due for a max contract had his injuries not gotten in the way. He could get that chance under the watch of Scott Brooks in Washington, the Bleacher Report reported.

Either way, it will be an opportunity that he cannot afford to waste. He is aware that Beal is the superstar of the Wizards right now and the odds may increase once Wall is cleared to return. But that time, the 30-year-old hopes to have mustered just enough to get the attention of other teams in need of a wily veteran guard who has already shown he can play with the big boys of the NBA.
