Despite rupturing his Achilles in the 2018-19 NBA Finals, there is no question that teams can wait and thrive with Kevin Durant at some point. With the growing belief that the former NBA MVP will be likely sitting out the whole of next season, he remains an intriguing investment moving forward. Aside from the Golden State Warriors, teams hot on the 30-year-old's trail are the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and the New York Knicks.

The Nets and the Knicks were previously believed as the top spots where Durant could end up next if talks with the Warriors bog down. A prime reason for this to happen is that pundits believe he would tandem with Kyrie Irving on either squad. It was the buzz spreading last NBA season although the outlook changed when the second overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft went down to injury. Just the same, the two-time NBA champion remains a valuable asset although there is some curing time inserted into the mix.

But if the report from SNY.tv is to be believed, the Brooklyn Nets are not the front-runners to land the two-time NBA champion. A probable reason here is that KD wants to join a team that has a good mix of players capable of advancing to the NBA playoffs upon his return. Playing alongside Irving could also be in play. Ironically, the Nets are believed to be the favorites for Uncle Drew - making the plot all the more confusing. It remains to be seen if this claim swings to another direction if Brooklyn is able to take in Irving this summer.

In a previous report, it was mentioned how the Warriors could engage in a "delayed sign and trade" scenario with Durant. Should that be the case, the Knicks (and probably the Clippers) could get better chances at the two-time NBA Finals MVP. But then again, the winning culture comes into play. The Knicks are rebuilding while the Clippers are not far off. The good news is that with Durant possibly out for the 2019-20 NBA season, both teams have time to rebuild and lure in more stars (outside possibly Irving).

The Warriors remain the top bet to keep Durant, seeing how the marriage has produced two NBA titles. But a problem for the Dubs for the coming season is getting healthy players to suit up. With Durant and possibly Klay Thompson on the injured list, the Warriors will need to take in players to fill up the slack. Curry and Green will still be around plus possibly DeMarcus Cousins unless Boogie opts to sign elsewhere.
