The big news recently is the upset pulled by the Aussie Boomers on Team USA recently, 98-94. Two NBA stars starred for Australia in that game, Patty Mills and Andrew Bogut. Ironically, both played under some of the familiar faces on the coaching staff. Mills played for Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs while Bogut was under Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors.

Between Mills and Bogut, only the former is certain of starting the 2019-20 NBA season with the Spurs. Bogut, on the other hand, will head back to Sydney to play for Australia in the NBL. But once that season ends, Kerr revealed that he would welcome back the 34-year-old center if things fall into place.

However, that will depend on several things. That includes Bogut being healthy. The top overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks has had his share of injuries the past years. He has since become a backup center for several teams.

Given the choice, it seems Bogut hopes to get the chance to return if he gets the call. But that depends if he is healthy and ready.

“If something happens where I am healthy and feeling good at the end of the next NBL year, and they call again and want to do it, I’m all ears,” Bogut said in a report from the Daily Telegraph.

And it appears Kerr is mutually open to the idea, NBC Sports Bay Area reported.

“We loved having Bogues at the Warriors last year,” Kerr recently said. “I think it was really good for him to play in Sydney. Part of that was just being home.”

Seeing how the Warriors need plenty of help in the middle, Bogut could be a great addition. The Dubs do have Kevon Looney and Willie Cauley-Stein at center and there is also Draymond Green likely to help out. Depending on the status of the Warriors, it should not be surprising if the Aussie big man re-signs once more.

For now, the focus for Bogut is helping Team Australia. The Boomers lost to Germany, 74-64 but the more pressing matter is the injury suffered by the 34-year-old center. He limped off the court after suffering an ankle injury. It remains to be seen if he can play when the Aussies play Canada on Sunday.
