The Golden State Warriors are in for a long season and injured star guard Klay Thompson knows it. They are in a stacked Western Conference where the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers are heavy favorites. Of the two, Thompson seems pretty awed by the Lakers, particularly their frontline.

“Explosive. Like whenever you get two MVP candidates like LeBron and AD and then add so much size around them with JaVale and Dwight, I mean they can really punish you inside just like old Lakers teams used to do. Their frontcourt is definitely one of the best in the NBA and then the bench is deep," said Thompson in an interview with ESPN.

Thompson believes Anthony Davis stands to benefit playing alongside James. The 29-year-old guard admits that The Brow is great talent and the duo will be fun to watch. Like it or not, Thompson appears to know that the Lakers will be a team to watch.

Thompson added that the retooled Lakers lineup goes beyond James and Davis. Rajon Rondo, Danny Green and Avery Bradley are key additions in the backcourt. With the right adjustment, the Lakers should be tough to beat.

The Warriors guard likely caught a glimpse of things to come in the preseason. Davis showed what he could do for the Lakers and dominated down low. But of course, the story is different come the regular season. Some teams are holding back and the Lakers are likely doing so to a certain extent.

Speaking of Davis, it will be interesting if he suits up when the regular season opens. He suffered a mild sprain in his right thumb against the Brooklyn Nets in China. The 26-year-old is scheduled to have MRI tests for precautionary measures. Seeing that the Lakers' first game will be against the Los Angeles Clippers, it is likely Davis will suit up.

Davis could be used sparingly, depending on how the game goes. The Clippers won't have Paul George either on opening night. The 29-year-old forward continues to recuperate from a should injury and is expected to miss some games early on.
