Apple fans are keen to get any update on the company’s upcoming slate of products, and a new lead has now emerged from an unexpected place.

On Tuesday Apple-heads on Twitter noticed that a new, unannounced custom emoji appeared when tweeting “#AppleEvent.” The emoji itself is nothing more than a light blue Apple logo after a hashtag, but its mere existence suggests that something bigger is in the wings, reports Apple Insider.

Digging into the code for the emoji, Twitter users found that it is set to appear from Sept. 8-28 on the platform and has the official name “AppleEvent2020.” This has led many to speculate that the tech giant is set to hold its annual product reveal sometime this month, as is tradition. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, there had been some speculation that the event would be delayed to October.

Prior to this development, rumors had made the rounds suggesting that Apple would be announcing an event soon and that it would take place as soon as this week. Though some have also suggested that the announcement might not actually be related to the launch of new products.

Regardless, Apple is reported to be launching the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones this fall, with some outlets putting the release date in October. In addition, most expect the company to unveil the latest generation of Apple Watches around the same time. Less substantial rumors point to a new iPad Air model and the long-awaited reveal of the AirPods Studio, a pair of premium over-ear headphones.
