Chinese smartphone giant Huawei is preparing for the much-awaited release of the company's first-ever foldable smartphone, the Huawei Mate X. Huawei Mate X is scheduled for release in China in November 2019, while the international release date is yet to be revealed by the company.

The new Huawei Mate X was first revealed at the recent 2019 Mobile World Congress event. The new foldable smartphone was originally scheduled for launch on June 2019, but was pushed back to another release date to allow more thorough testing and to avoid the same fate that befell the original Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Gizmo China reported.

Mate X will finally go on sale on Friday

Chinese smartphone users will finally get their hands on the new foldable smartphone. The new Huawei Mate X will go on sale on Friday for $2,422. Meanwhile, in Europe, Huawei has reportedly delayed the sales of its flagship Huawei Mate 30 series due to some trade issues. The company does not allow to ship new phones with Google mobile software installed under the US trade ban, the South China Morning Post reported.

In addition to the Chinese release date, Huawei also posted some important messages on their official website, it said that the new foldable phone can’t fold if it has a temperature of 23 Fahrenheit or -5 Celsius. The company also advises users not to remove the special protective film on the phone’s screen.

About the new foldable smartphone Mate X

The new foldable smartphone brings an 8-inch OLED display that can, reportedly, fold outwards, resulting in a 6.38-inch rear display and a 6.6-inch main display. The Mate X is powered by Huawei Kirin 980 mobile chipset and comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of data storage. The phone gets its power from a 4500mAh battery cell.

As for the camera setup, the Huawei Mate X features a 40-megapixel main camera system, 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The phone also comes with a time-of-flight sensor. The device also includes an LED flash, a USB-C port and a power button/fingerprint sensor. To support 5G technology, the new smartphone is equipped with Huawei-developed Balong 5000 modem.
