13 going on 30 hulu
Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer’s “13 Going on 30” is coming to Hulu in September. Columbia Pictures

August is almost over, which means summer will be ending soon, too. Luckily, Hulu and Amazon have just the thing to cheer you up: new movies and shows arriving on their platforms in September.

Rewatch Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo’s classic rom-com, “13 Going on 30,” on Hulu Sept. 1, or head over to Amazon that same day to check out Tom Cruise as the titular character in “Jerry Maguire.” If you prefer screaming over smiling, get your scare on with “The Amityville Horror” on both platforms.

If you’re looking for some new, interesting shows, then look no further than the originals being added to the streaming platforms next month. Hulu’s “The First,” which starts up on Sept. 14 and stars Sean Penn, centers around the challenges of the first human mission to Mars. Amazon Prime has its own original series premiering that same day. Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen star as a married couple in the new comedy, “Forever.”
