Hulu finally revealed when fans can expect the “Marvel’s Runaways” Season 2 premiere, but the release date announcement revealed a big change to the airing schedule.

“Runaways” Season 2 will premiere Dec. 21 at 12 a.m. EDT, and it’s not just episode 1 that will debut that Friday. That’s the release date for all 13 episodes of Season 2. While the first season (which only had 10 episodes) followed Hulu’s typical weekly plan, it seems the streaming platform is changing their strategy for the Marvel drama’s second outing.

That won’t be the only change fans have to get used to. The first season followed six teens as they realized their parents are part of an evil group called Pride. After facing off with their parents, they ran away from home. Season 2 will catch up with the teens as they’re on the run from the people who raised them as well as the authorities (they’ve been framed for Pride’s sacrifice of Destiny), and they’ll have to figure out how to make it on their own.

“As they scavenge for food, search for shelter, and take care of one another, our kids begin to realize, for better or worse, they’re stuck with each other,” the official Marvel synopsis says. “And it’s up to them to take down The Pride once and for all.”

The logline for the Hulu teen drama, which is produced by “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl” showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, will also tackle a certain comic book storyline that was missing from “Runaways” Season 1. “But someone sent a mysterious message to Jonah... Is there a mole in the Runaways?” the synopsis asks. Readers will have to stay tuned to find out if the show follows the books.

The sophomore season will also show more conflict between The Pride and Jonah. The parents will want their kids back safe and sound, but Jonah could have other plans. “Meanwhile The Pride is focused on finding their children, and Jonah has his own dangerous plan in mind,” the summary warns.

Season 1 left off without explaining much about Jonah’s (Julian McMahon) true intentions. It’s clear that he is super powerful and whatever he is drilling for is not a source of clean and renewable energy. It’s a living thing, and audiences will have to wait to find out what it is, why Jonah is drilling for it and how it will affect everything.
