The new Nexus 7 will release in the U.S. on July 30 Google

Following its Wednesday unveiling, the new Nexus 7 is on track for release in just a few days. Having launched at the “Breakfast with Sundar Pichai” media event alongside the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the second-generation Nexus 7 will be available at the Google Play Store as well as at a number of U.S. retailers starting Tuesday, says Google.

The new Nexus 7 is now available for pre-order at the Google Play Store and will begin shipping Tuesday. Among the retailers that will have the new Nexus 7 available that day are Best Buy, GameStop, OfficeMax, Staples, Amazon, RadioShack, Walmart, Office Depot, B&H, J&R and Home Shopping Network.

A number of retailers had the new Nexus 7 up for pre-order and also began shipping the device before it was unveiled. Best Buy had its 16GB and 32GB Nexus 7 pre-order pages up prior to the “breakfast,” with a photo gallery, price and full specs revealed on the page, even outing Android 4.3. Meanwhile, an OfficeMax employee was also able to use the SKU number for the 32GB Nexus 7 to order the device on July 20. Upon receiving his Nexus 7 prior to the unveiling, the employee shared photos of the device and its box in Reddit.

The new Nexus 7 will be available in three models: the 16GB Wi-Fi, 32GB Wi-Fi, and 32GB LTE, selling for $229, $269 and $349 respectively. The Wi-Fi models will be available at the Google Play Store and at the aforementioned retailers, while the LTE model, a single model U.S. exclusive, will be available on the mobile networks AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon and will release in the coming weeks, according to Google. The Verizon model will notably be LTE only, while the AT&T and T-Mobile models will have 3G and HSPA+ connectivity in addition to LTE. Because it is a single model, the new Nexus 7 LTE will be able to transfer between the three carriers by which it will be powered.

Several other countries will also release the new Nexus 7 in the coming weeks. Currently confirmed are Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Spain, South Korea, France and Germany, but most do not have release information available at this time.

Some information has come from the U.K., though we remain uncertain as to when the new Nexus 7 will release at the U.K. Google Play Store. Currently the U.K. Play Store still has the first-generation Nexus 7 available for purchase. U.K. retailers Currys and PC World have the new Nexus 7 available for pre-order with the tablet set for release on Sept. 13. Prices for the 16GB and 32GB are £199.99 and £239.99 respectively.
