The New York Giants have been the NFL’s worst team over the last three years, going 12-36. After a four-win season in 2019, the schedule could be set up for the Giants to potentially improve in 2020.

Only six teams have an easier schedule than New York next season, based on last year’s final NFL standings. The Giants’ upcoming opponents combined for a .480 winning percentage in 2019, giving New York a seemingly favorable strength of schedule.

Divisional meetings with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins will make up six of the Giants’ games. No NFC East team won 10 games as the Eagles went 9-7 to finish in first place and a game ahead of the Cowboys. The Redskins went 3-13 for the worst record in the conference.

The strength of schedule ranking probably makes New York’s schedule appear easier than it actually will be in 2020.

The Giants are scheduled to host the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, both of whom missed the playoffs last season. Ben Roethlisberger only played in two games because of a shoulder injury. Tom Brady signed with Tampa Bay in free agency, making the Bucs one of the NFC favorites.

The defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers will also visit MetLife Stadium. Odell Beckham Jr. is set to take on his former team when the Cleveland Browns visit the Giants. New York will also host Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears represent the Giants’ weakest road opponents. New York is likely to be a significant underdog when they visit the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks.

Joe Judge is entering his first season as the Giants’ head coach. The organization has high hopes for quarterback Daniel Jones, who threw for 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and an 87.7 passer rating as a rookie.

The Giants have one winning record in the last seven seasons.
