KEY POINTS

  • The Kansas City Chiefs are favored to make it back-to-back this year
  • Aaron Rodgers is on the right course to bag his third NFL MVP honors
  • Patrick Mahomes is seen as likely Super Bowl 55 MVP

The 2020-21 NFL season is fast coming to a close, and most are now focusing on the awards that will be handed to deserving individuals and teams.

Aaron Rodgers has been having a fine season and most feel that the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) plum is his to lose.

As far as the Super Bowl MVP is concerned, the odds on favorite is Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, the team most see winning this 2021.

Rodgers may clinch third NFL MVP plum

Even at 37, Rodgers has proven that he can still play at a high level. He may have capped that with another brilliant showing for the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, 35-16.

But his efforts go beyond that game. For the season, Rodgers has had 48 touchdown passes, which tied him for the fifth-most in a season in NFL history.

Worth noting here is that all players who had 48 or more went on to win the MVP award for the season. It would be surprising if he does not bag his third NFL MVP award.

AFC Championship Game: Chiefs vs. Bills

The Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills are the favorites to clash in the AFC Championship game.

The Chiefs are favored to win it anew, possibly achieving a rare feat of seeing a team win "The Big Game" after consecutive trips. Meanwhile, the Bills are underdogs but cannot be discounted from pulling the rug from under the Arrowhead Stadium-based franchise.

NFC Championship Game: 49ers vs. Packers

The San Francisco 49ers are the odds-on-favorite (+325) to win the 2020 NFC Championship. They are likely to face the New Orleans Saints, the second team holding a +550 odds.

However, the Packers could spoil the party and even upend the Niners. Anything can happen even if their odds are higher at +900.

But then again, never underestimate the stellar season of an MVP prospect like Rodgers.

Super Bowl 2021 Champion: Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are looming favorites to win Super Bowl 55 with Patrick Mahomes at the helm.

However, Green Bay could be out to flip the script, especially if Rodgers continues to maintain his level of play.

Super Bowl MVP: Mahomes locked in

If the Chiefs do achieve a rare feat of winning the Super Bowl for the second year in a row, there is no other person that deserves credit than Mahomes.

It would be a rare feat, but if oddsmakers are to be believed, Kansas City has been managing and playing their cards well for the distinction.
