  • The New England Patriots lost legendary quarterback Tom Brady in the recent offseason
  • Cam Newton was a former NFL MVP who spent the majority of the offseason as a free agent
  • One motivation Newton will use for the Patriots is how several teams passed up on the chance to sign him

Major news hit the league when Cam Newton agreed on a deal with the New England Patriots. The former NFL MVP is a fierce competitor and doesn't back down from a challenge. With this, Newton mentioned that he is motivated this year by the other teams that overlooked him in this unique offseason.

There will be big footsteps to fill for Newton given the rich history of the Patriots. The departure of Tom Brady from the New England has caused a major change for the NFL given how the legendary quarterback has dominated the division for decades. Throughout Brady’s stint with the Patriots, he’s led his team to multiple wins and six Super Bowl titles. Upon his exit, this resulted in a free-for-all chase in the AFC East predictions.

But given the recent Newton signing, the Patriots were able to propel themselves back into the winning conversation. Considering Newton remains healthy, the Patriots are in a good position to bounce back and reclaim their position as a strong offensive force in the league.

It has been a rough few months for Newton as multiple rumors have circulated regarding his status as a player. Several teams were linked to the star but never followed through on signing him. Per Musket Fire, this can be used by Newton as fuel in the upcoming year.

“You’re getting a dog. You’re getting one of these ticked-off dogs too. And I’m looking at the schedule and I’m like, ‘Who we’re playing? That team passed on me! OK, that team passed on me. They could’ve came and got me,'” Newton said.

With New England finalizing the deal, the highly decorated superstar is ready to make an impact again in the league. The outspoken Newton is entering the season with a chip on his shoulder and is ready to prove to everyone that he is still an elite player of the league.

The addition of the 2015 NFL MVP can bring a lot of hope back to the Patriots. It will be interesting to see how the starting lineup would look like when everything has settled down in New England.
