The Green Bay Packers are all set for training camp although that will not include defensive tackle, Mike Daniels. Multiple reports have come out that they have released the defensive lineman who was due to make $8.5 million for the coming NFL season. His inability to stay healthy has been singled out as one of the prime reasons for the cut, a reason why the Packers needed to find players who could fill up their defensive end.

According to NFL.com, the Packers were actually dangling Daniels but no trade partner came forward. But now that he has been released, the 2017 Pro Bowler is not expected to fall short of suitors. Among the teams that could pick him up include the Cleveland Browns. The decision to let Daniels go comes a day after the team signed defensive end Dean Lowry to a three-year contract extension worth $20.35 million.

"You always want to keep good players, but unfortunately that's part of this business is there's tough decisions that you have to make," said Packers coach Matt LaFleur.

Daniels joined the Packers back in 2012 when he was selected as the 132nd pick of the NFL Draft. When healthy, he is a big boost the team until injuries started to set in. Last year alone, a foot injury limited him to just 10 games and such forced the hand of Green Bay to add several players. Seven were also added in the offseason - a move that further led many to believe that Daniels time with the Packers would be coming to an end.

Looking at the depth of the Packers for the coming NFL season, they do have a lot of depth. ESPN reported that they do have rising star Kenny Clark, Montravius Adams, Kingsley Keke as well as backups in Tyler Lancaster, Fadol Brown and James Looney. Other than these defensive players, Green Bay could also move Rashan Gary and/or Za'Darius Smith on the defensive line in certain scenarios with coordinator Mike Pettine.

As for teams who may pick up Daniels, it all depends on his bill of health. Though he did not participate in any offseason practices, he did indicate that he is expected to be cleared in time for the start of training camp.
