The New York Jets traded up for the No.3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft in order to select Sam Darnold. The team owns the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but they might be looking to move down this time.

New York has what they hope is their quarterback of the future, and they could get a desirable offer from a team that is looking to draft a young signal caller of their own.

“We’re very open to potentially moving back from three,” Jets’ general manager Mike Maccagnan said Monday at the NFL’s annual meeting, via The New York Post. “I wouldn’t envision us moving up in the draft. I think you can rule that one out. If we end up staying at three and taking a player, we think there are some very good players at three. But we’d definitely be interested if another team came with an offer that we felt was worthy of moving out of the spot. We would definitely consider that. Not to say we’re committed to doing it, but we’d definitely be very intrigued by that.”

Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins are considered to be the top two quarterbacks in the draft. Despite having drafted Josh Rosen with the No.10 pick a year ago, the Arizona Cardinals are rumored to be eyeing Murray with the first overall pick this year. The San Francisco 49ers at No.2 and the Jets at No.3 don’t need quarterbacks.

The Oakland Raiders at No.4 could potentially be interested in a quarterback. Sports Illustrated has reported that the Raiders will host private workouts for Murray and Haskins.

The New York Giants at No.6, the Denver Broncos at No.10 and the Miami Dolphins at No.13 are all considering drafting a quarterback. If one of those teams feels strongly about Murray or Haskins, they might look to trade up and prevent Oakland from taking the player they covet.

If it becomes clear that the Cardinals are taking Murray, the 49ers could hurt the Jets’ plans of trading down by shopping the No.2 pick. With Jimmy Garoppolo set to return from the torn ACL he suffered last season, San Francisco is expected to draft an edge rusher with their first-round selection.

Two quarterbacks have been taken within the first three overall picks in three of the last four drafts.
