A day before NFL teams can officially sign free agents in the 2019 offseason, the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens are making some of the biggest headlines. While New York is adding multiple Pro Bowl players, Baltimore has reportedly lost a few defensive stars.

According to the latest reports, the Jets have agreed to sign linebackers C.J. Mosley and Anthony Barr, both of whom have made three straight Pro Bowls. Mosley played his entire career with the Ravens. Baltimore also lost veteran pass rusher Terrell Suggs to the Arizona Cardinals and pass rusher Za'Darius Smith to the Green Bay Packers.

Suggs had made seven Pro Bowls from 2004-2017. He’s the franchise's all-time leader with 132.5 career sacks.

The Ravens released Eric Weddle last week. The safety made the Pro Bowl in all three of his seasons with Baltimore, and he’ll play with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019.

Baltimore won the AFC North in 2018 on the strength of their defense. The team ranked first in the NFL in yards allowed, and only the Chicago Bears allowed fewer points.

New York desperately needed help on defense. They ranked 25th in yards allowed a season ago, and only three teams gave up more points.

The Jets began the offseason with the second-most money to spend under the salary cap. They remain a serious contender to sign running back Le’Veon Bell.
