After getting rid of their first-year head coach following a poor rookie season, there is increased speculation that the Arizona Cardinals will make the same decision regarding their starting quarterback. The franchise is expected by many to trade Josh Rosen and use the first pick of the 2019 NFL Draft to select Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.

The notion that Arizona might draft Murray was first introduced in January when the team hired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who had previously said he’d take the Heisman Trophy winner with the No.1 overall pick. Rumors of the Cardinals potentially dealing Rosen picked up at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Murray is now the favorite to be picked first the in the draft. He’s ahead of Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who is projected by many to be a better NFL quarterback. The Cardinals could trade the selection, but many mock drafts are predicting Arizona to draft and keep Murray.

There has been some debate regarding Rosen’s value. After being taken with the No.10 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, he had the worst production of the five quarterbacks that were selected in the first round.

Rosen averaged just 162.7 yards per game and completed 55.2 percent of his passes. He finished the season with 11 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 66.7 passer rating.

Rosen didn’t have much help in Arizona. The Cardinals had the NFL’s worst offensive line and were forced to change offensive coordinators mid-season. A few teams likely see Rosen as a future quality starter and would be willing to trade a high draft pick for him.

BetOnline lists the Washington Redskins as the most likely destination for Rosen, if he’s traded. Washington needs a signal caller after Alex Smith suffered a broken leg that could force him to miss all of 2019. The Redskins reportedly have some interest in acquiring Arizona’s quarterback, should he become available.

The New York Giants might make sense as a trade partner for the Cardinals. They are eyeing quarterbacks with the No.6 overall pick after deciding not to take one with the No.2 overall pick in last year’s draft. According to Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, the Giants have interest in trading for Rosen.

BetOnline gives the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots better odds than the Giants to trade for Rosen.
