The National Football League has launched its first-ever subscription streaming service that includes preseason and regular-season games. NFL+ costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 for the whole year, giving fans access to out-of-market exhibition games, as well as live local and primetime games that count in the standings.

Previously, fans could stream local and primetime regular-season games for free with the NFL app. Fans can only watch NFL+ on mobile phones and tablets.

NFL+ is available with the NFL app.

"Today marks an important day in the history of the National Football League with the launch of NFL+," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement. "The passionate and dedicated football fans are the lifeblood of the NFL, and being able to reach and interact with them across multiple platforms is incredibly important to us. We look forward to continuing to grow NFL+ and deepening our relationship with fans across all ages and demographics, providing them access to a tremendous amount of NFL content, including the most valuable content in the media industry: live NFL games."

There’s more included with NFL+ than just being able to watch live games. Live audio for every game during the season is included with a subscription. NFL+ subscribers will be able to watch NFL library programming on-demand and without commercials. Such programming includes NFL Films productions and NFL Network shows.

Fans have the option of purchasing to NFL+ Premium for $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year. A premium subscription includes full replays and coaches film of NFL games, which had previously been available with NFL Game Pass for $99.99 a year.

NFL+ will start to provide streaming of games when Week 1 of the 2022 NFL preseason starts on Aug. 11.
