A few marquee players are expected to be traded in the 2022 NFL offseason. Most of the rumors have been dominated by Aaron Rodgers and other quarterbacks, but there’s a chance that one of the league’s top playmakers could also be dealt.

The New York Giants will at least listen to any trade offers they might receive for Saquon Barkley. That's what new general manager Joe Schoen said at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

There’s been speculation that the Giants might look to trade Barkley this offseason in an attempt to get under the salary cap. Barkley has a $7.217 million salary for 2022 in what is the final year of his contract.

“We're in a situation where unfortunately we have to get under the salary cap,” Schoen told reporters. “We're not in very good salary-cap health. I'm not going to say yes to every deal, but I'm definitely going to listen and be open to the situations that are best for the New York Giants.”

The Giants might be wary of signing Barkley to an extension, given his production over the last three seasons. Injuries have limited the running back to 28 games since 2019. Behind a poor offensive line, Barkley has rushed for just 1,630 yards and eight touchdowns during that time.

Given his injury history and the lack of value that most teams place on running backs, Barkley might not fetch a major return for the Giants in a trade.

Jimmy Garoppolo’s trade value has been hurt by injuries as well. Not only has the San Francisco 49ers quarterback been sidelined for 25 games in the last four years, but he will undergo surgery on his throwing shoulder this spring. Garoppolo won’t be able to throw for about 16 weeks, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

There has been significant trade interest in Garoppolo, according to Rapoport. The 49ers have been open about looking to trade Garoppolo. San Francisco views Trey Lance as its future franchise quarterback.

The 49ers have reached the NFC Championship Game with Garoppolo under center in two of the last three years.

If Rodgers expresses an interest to be traded, the Green Bay Packers are expected to be flooded with calls from around the league. The back-to-back MVP has yet to make a decision regarding his future, and Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters that the team has yet to receive any inquiries about Rodgers.

Rodgers is expected to decide soon if he wants to stay in Green Bay for 2022 or request a trade. According to Rapoport, Rodgers and the Packers have been negotiating a possible short-term contract that would make him the NFL’s highest-paid player.

The Packers also have a decision to make about star receiver Davante Adams, who is headed for free agency. If Adams stays with the Packers, it could increase the chances of Rodgers wanting to return to Green Bay.
