Niantic has announced that it will be rolling out a new feature for “Pokémon GO” that will make it easier for players to catch rare Pokemon. The developer hasn’t given out a release date for the feature yet, but it did say that it is “coming soon.”

“We are adding a new feature which grants a catch bonus when you earn medals on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.),” Niantic said on its “Pokémon GO” Facebook page. “These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokemon with a related type.”

Simply put, rewards will be given to those who focus on catching specific types of Pokémon. For example, if a player is able to get a Punk Girl medal, which can be acquired by capturing 10 Poison-type Pokemon, the player will be rewarded with a +1 bonus for catching other Poison-types, according to Digital Trends.

The bonus point increases the chance of capturing a rare poison type Pokémon. Punk Girl is a first-tier medal, Swimmer is a second-tier and Kindler is a third-tier. Players will level up to a new tier if they keep focusing on catching a single type of Pokémon, according to BGR. Niantic has not yet revealed what the other medals will be called.

If a captured Pokémon has more than one type, the bonus points given will be based on the average of all bonuses that the player has been rewarded with. Although the new feature is intended to make it easier to catch rare Pokémon, it’s also a way for users to quickly get more Candy.

A lot of “Pokémon GO” players have been asking Niantic when it will resolve the Pokémon tracking issues. Instead, Niantic has decided to make catching Pokémon more rewarding rather than making it easier. The new feature is expected to be part of an upcoming software update.
