Actor and television host Nick Cannon announced Monday that he and model Bre Tiesi are expecting a child. This will be Cannon's eighth child.

On his talk show, "The Nick Cannon Show," Cannon, 41, broke the news by using a picture of him and Tiesi, 29, for “picture of the day.”

"I never usually use my own personal pictures as pic of the day, but today, I have to do it because I want to share this beautiful, extraordinary moment," Cannon said.

"It's me and Bre, the next mother of our child. It’s a boy, we found out officially yesterday,” he added.

Cannon then noted how he has many children and a strong relationship with them.

"That sounds weird, saying, ‘the next mother,’ because as everybody knows, I have a lot of children. I love them all dearly, sincerely. Every single one of my children are just as special as the other, it’s never a competition," Cannon said.

Cannon has had seven other children with four women -- Mariah Carey, Brittney Bell, Abby de la Rosa, and Alyssa Scott.

In December, Cannon's 5-month-old son, Zen Cannon, died from a cancerous brain tumor.

A source told ET Online that Tiesi knew that she was pregnant when Cannon was dealing with the death of his son but kept it private.

"She has known she is pregnant since November. She was very private and protective about who the father was, even amongst acquaintances," the source said. "She wanted to be respectful to what Nick was going through with the loss of Zen, and also enjoy this sacred time in her life."
